Heat Pump Hot Water – How It All Works.

So What’s All The Fuss?

Hot Water Systems. They’re a bit of a set and forget appliance that most of us don’t think about. But surprisingly, it’s the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions from the average Australian home. That’s right, according to the Australian Government, anywhere between 15% and 27% of the average Australian’s energy usage can be due to inefficient hot water systems that cost a lot more than they should.

However, that’s not the case if you’re one of the many Australians who have made the switch to a Heat Pump Hot Water System. Heat Pumps like the DynaHeat Heat Pump can be up to 70% more efficient than electric water systems.

How Does It Work Then?

Using smart technology, a fan draws in air which contacts heat energy, across the evaporator unit. This evaporator turns the liquid refrigerant into a gas that the compressor pressurises. The gas inside the condenser coil heats the water inside the tank, then reverts to a liquid and continues to the evaporator to begin the process again.

This method of energy extraction means the heat pump doesn’t have to rely on conventional gas or direct sunlight to provide hot water for your home or business.

Go Through A Lot Of Hot Water At Home?

While electric tanks get drained and refilled at night, heat pumps work all throughout the day. Once the water reaches a certain level in the tank, the sensor will trigger and automatically start refilling the tank and heating the water at the same time. The tank will take 1-3 hours to refill and heat the water if it is completely drained. In this way, the heat pump is very forgiving to large hot water usage.

Government Subsidies To Help You Save!

With current federal and state energy-saving programs, a new heat pump hot water unit can be yours for only $99 in South Australia, and at no cost, if you live in Victoria or are a concession cardholder.

The new unit will be installed by a local A-Grade Electrician and Plumber, who will issue a Certificate of Compliance upon completion.

Still Not Sure?

That’s okay! What we want you to know is that your current hot water system could be costing you a lot more than it should be and the switch to a more financially viable and energy-efficient is surprisingly easy. Imagine paying only 30% of what you are now for water heating!
