Small Business Energy Incentive

The Albanese Government recently introduced the Small Business Energy Incentive, a new initiative aimed at supporting small businesses in cutting their power bills while contributing to the reduction of Australia’s emissions. This incentive offers small businesses with a turnover of less than $50 million an additional 20% tax deduction on a range of essential electrification products, such as batteries, heat pumps, and energy-efficient appliances.

Under this initiative, businesses investing up to $100,000 can receive a bonus tax deduction of $20,000. This provides small businesses with the freedom to choose from a range of options available in the marketplace to lower their energy bills. For example, cafes and restaurants can switch from expensive gas to more energy-efficient commercial induction cooktops, while tradies can replace noisy generators with quieter and more efficient battery-powered alternatives. Additionally, any small business with a hot water system can upgrade to heat pumps made in Australia.
