PDRS Rule Change Guidance & New Requirements Published.

On Monday, the NSW regulator published additional guidance documentation aimed to assist Accredited Certificate Providers (ACPs) in complying with the 19 December 2024 Rule Change under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS).

The key changes under the Rule Change are:

  1. Suspending WH1 (Commercial Hot Water Heat Pumps) until further notice. This change means all implementations on or after 19 December 2024 are ineligible to attract PRC creation but does not affect ESC creation.
  2. Introducing transitional arrangements for registering battery installations on the DER Register.
  3. Updating the definition of Battery Energy Storage System to clarify that BESS1 battery installations that use an existing inverter are eligible for certificate creation provided all PDRS requirements are met.
  4. Updating BESS1 Equipment Requirements to require existing inverters used as part of a BESS1 implementation have a warranty of at least 10 years from the date it was installed.
  5. From 3 March 2025, ACPs will need to provide make and model data for batteries and new inverters installed as part of BESS1 implementations.

For more information, please refer to to IPART’s Quick Reference Guide.

Reminder: VEU Introducing Updated Requirements on 20 January & 1 February.

This is a reminder of the upcoming updated requirements to the VEU’s hot water and air conditioning activities.

Due to come into effect in two stages, a suite of updated requirements are forecasted to bolster the capture of evidence and information.

As previously communicated to our partners, many of these updates align with existing Ecovantage Compliance processes but there are some notable additions.

Please see the VEU’s program update, outlining the changes.
