International Women’s Day

At the second International Conference of Working Women in 1910, the leader of the ‘Women’s Office’ for the Social Democratic Party in Germany proposed that every year in every country there should be a celebration on the same day – a Women’s Day – to press for their demands. The birth of International Women’s Day began its long unbroken history of being celebrated around the world in March the following year.

Fast forward 118 years and International Women’s Day is still a day for celebrating how far we have come with gender equality, whilst keeping front of mind what we still need to achieve.

At Ecovantage, we pride ourselves on equality. Although we don’t have set goals for diversity in the work place, our methods have naturally provided us with gender, cultural and age diversity through recruiting people based on merit and equal opportunity.

Currently, 55% of the Ecovantage workforce is made up of women. Women who identify with different cultural backgrounds and span the various age groups hold positions at all levels of responsibility within the business.

With the understanding that family commitments don’t end at 8:59am and start again at 5:01pm, the women (and men) that are part of the Ecovantage team are afforded the ability to balance work/life responsibilities. This inculdes opportunities such as flexible working arrangements, allowing them to adjust their days, hours and location to be the best support for their family.

We like to think of ourselves as a company that models an example of how easy and valuable equality in the workplace is to achieve and we hope that our practices can become status quo in every other workplace.
