QueenslandThe City of Sydney’s Green Building Grants program is offering up to $15,000 for NABERS & Energy Audit projects in residential apartment buildings and accommodation buildings, including hotels, hostels and serviced apartments.
Supported by Grants.
The program aims to support building owners and owners corporations to receive environmental ratings, certifications and assessments to make their buildings resource efficient and achieve net zero emissions by 2035.
Key Dates:
- Applications open: Tuesday 4 February 2025
- Applications close: Tuesday 11 March 2025
- Project timeline: 1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026

Energy Audits.
Energy Audits are the essential first step for hotel and apartment building managers and owners to identify key areas for energy usage and energy bill improvement.
Energy Audits involve a systematic evaluation of energy use, conducted by qualified audit professionals to an Australian standard. Audits can clarify your building’s energy consumption and identify areas for potential savings, as well as lead to reduced energy use, improved productivity and opportunities to innovate.
Typical Energy Audits include comprehensive analysis and reporting of a building’s energy usage across three categories aligned to AS NZS 3598.1 & AS NZS 3598.2.
NABERS Ratings.
The National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) is an environmental rating program that evaluates the environmental performance of buildings and tenancies across various sectors.
Launched in 1998, this pioneering initiative aims to measure and compare the environmental performance of buildings and their operations, ultimately encouraging more sustainable practices in Australia’s built environment.
Buildings are rated on a scale of 1 to 6 stars, with 3 stars being average and 6 stars being market-leading.
