VEU opens consultation on Energy Management Information Activity.

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) is seeking public feedback on a proposed new Energy Management Information System (EMIS) for the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program. The EMIS would provide a way for homes and businesses to track their energy use and identify opportunities for savings.

The consultation paper outlines a range of topics for feedback, including the method for calculating greenhouse gas emissions, the classification of EMIS activity into three tiers (Basic, Integrated, and Advanced), a verification process to ensure value for money, and a minimum co-payment requirement for each tier.

Stakeholders can read the consultation paper and have their say on the activity through Engage Victoria by 17 February 2025.

This is a significant development for the VEU program, as it has the potential to help Victorians save money on their energy bills and reduce their environmental impact.

Consultation on VEU Program Targets for 2026-2027 has now closed.

DEECA has now concluded the public consultation period for setting emissions reduction targets for the VEU program from 2026 to 2027.

The Victorian Government will now carefully review the valuable input received from stakeholders, including industry representatives, environmental groups, and the general public. This feedback will play a crucial role in informing the final decision on the program’s targets for the next two years. All proposed options see a decrease to the annual targets which would ease program demand against continuing restricted supply.
