- The Data Centre Starters program initiated by NABERS
The NSW government has unveiled a new National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) grant program. Financial incentives are on the table to help building owners and managers with evaluating and enhancing environmental performance. The program’s primary focus is bolstering energy efficiency and curbing emissions.
At Ecovantage we are proud to have qualified and authorised NABERS assessors in our team. Accredited Assessors undertake a physical assessment of the building to collect the data, then verify and translate that data into a numerical rating.
Energy and Water Ratings for NSW
The NSW Government’s Accelerating Net Zero Buildings program focuses on energy performance and emissions reduction in new and existing buildings.
The Energy and Water Starters stream offers financial incentives of up to $4,500 per building for owners in the early stages of their energy and water efficiency journey. This includes support for NABERS Energy and Water ratings and action plans. Buildings who have previously had a NABERS rating do not qualify.
The New Buildings stream provides incentives for NSW developments committing to high energy performance, with a financial contribution of up to $8,045 to waive the Commitment Agreement fee.
Ecovantage can assist building owners in maximising the benefits of the financial incentives offered under the Energy and Water Starters initiative.
Data Centre Energy Rating Grants
The Data Centre Starters program initiated by NABERS is a beacon of support for data centres across Australia. With the first round open from 1 February 2024 to 30 April 2024, this program is designed to assist data centres in measuring and improving their environmental performance.
Eligible applicants will be provided with up to $8,000 (excluding GST) to be used towards two consecutive ratings and an improvement action plan in between.
Metering Grants for NSW
The Metering and Monitoring Planning initiative, administered by the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water, presents a golden opportunity for businesses to enhance their energy metering systems.
Metering and monitoring can help you unlock data about your energy use and:
-
- save around 5 to 15% in energy costs
- improve energy performance
- understand if electrification is practical at your site
- may be suitable for energy efficiency measures being implemented at your site
- help you access other energy efficiency government incentives for upgrades, such as Energy Savings Certificates using PIAM&V
Expressions of interest for this initiative are open until the $1.5 million budget is exhausted, providing businesses with grants of up to $15,000 for assessing and improving their energy metering systems.
Additionally, the Metering Plan Implementation grant offers funding of up to $100,000 for eligible projects, covering up to 50% of the project cost.
The unveiling of new NABERS grants by the NSW government signals a significant stride towards evaluating and enhancing environmental performance in buildings. The focus on bolstering energy efficiency and reducing emissions is commendable, and the financial incentives offered through programs like the Accelerating Net Zero Buildings initiative and the Metering and Monitoring Planning initiative provide valuable support to building owners and businesses. These initiatives underscore a proactive commitment to sustainable practices and lay the groundwork for a greener and more energy-efficient future.
