Ecovantage Achieves Climate Active Recertification

As an organisation that exists to guide businesses in sustainable energy practices, and empower households to live more efficiently, Ecovantage are committed to leading by example and are proud to receive re-certification as an accredited Climate Active Carbon Neutral organisation for our business operations.

Climate Active Carbon Neutral Organisation

What is Climate Active?

Climate Active certification is an acknowledgment reserved for organisations that have successfully achieved carbon neutrality, adhering to the stringent criteria outlined in the Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard. This certification extends its scope to encompass a broad spectrum, including business operations, products, services, events, precincts, and buildings. In essence, it serves as a formal recognition of an entity’s commitment to environmental responsibility, showcasing a dedicated effort towards mitigating its carbon footprint and contributing to a sustainable future.

What have we been doing?

Staff Travel: Redefining Business Mobility

Ecovantage is refreshing its business travel policy to favour virtual meetings over in-person ones, wherever feasible. Employees are encouraged to choose carbon-neutral certified vendors or those with robust sustainability and emission reduction strategies. Sales staff, in particular, are allocated a yearly travel budget to ensure responsible travel practices.

Electricity: Illuminating a Greener Path

To address Scope 2 emissions, Ecovantage has formulated a plan to reduce grid electricity emissions by 30% before 2025. Upgrading office lighting to energy-efficient options and installing solar panels on the Victorian office are among the key strategies. The company is committed to using 100% renewable energy, including the retirement of LGCs where on-site solar options are unavailable. We achieve this by purchasing Green Power from our energy retailers.

Working from Home: Empowering Employees for a Greener Tomorrow

Ecovantage understands the impact of staff commuting on Scope 3 emissions and is actively promoting hybrid home/office work options. The company is also incentivising energy efficiency improvements in employees’ homes through discounts on products and services. Assistance is provided to staff in navigating state-specific schemes that support sustainability initiatives.

Vehicles: Electrifying the Fleet

Ecovantage is embracing electric vehicles (EVs) and is transitioning its fleet accordingly. The majority of cars provided to our staff are electric, whilst the remainder are hybrids.

Staff Induction & Training: Fostering a Culture of Sustainability

Ecovantage believes in equipping its employees with the knowledge and tools to contribute to emissions reduction. The employee induction program includes training on energy efficiency in the workplace and tips for reducing emissions at home. Ongoing initiatives will continue to educate and build awareness among staff on sustainable practices.

ICT Services and Equipment: A Sustainable IT Infrastructure

An evaluation of the company’s IT infrastructure is underway, exploring more sustainable options, including energy-efficient equipment and products with published embodied emissions factsheets.

Professional Services: Partnering for a Greener Future

Ecovantage is committed to collaborating with professional service providers who are carbon neutral certified or have robust sustainability and emission reduction strategies. From 2030 onwards, the company will prioritise working with carbon-neutral providers, encouraging partners to obtain certification or develop their own emission reduction strategies.

Sustainable Supply Chain: Reducing Environmental Footprint from the Source

Ecovantage recognizes the importance of working with suppliers to minimise environmental impact. The company is actively engaging with suppliers to transition packaging from plastic/polystyrene to recyclable cardboard where possible. By influencing its supply chain, Ecovantage aims to extend its commitment to sustainability beyond its immediate operations.

Environmental Protection Plan

Our employees and contractors are responsible for complying to the reduce, reuse and recycle principle in relation to their everyday work. This includes but is not limited to; placing waste in the designated recycling bins, reusing any packaging materials and paper whenever possible, and switching off any taps, lights, and electrical appliances when not in use.
