From 31 May 2023, new government-initiated incentives (Activity 3) will be introduced to support Victorian residents replacing existing gas hot water systems with energy-efficient heat pump hot water systems.

The final incentive associated with the upgrade is yet to be announced, however the price to supply and install a heat pump will be reduced from what it is now.

Why Upgrade.

Heat pump systems are up to 50% more efficient at heating water than gas systems. With rising gas prices and energy bills, the upgrade is simple, will be affordable, and will save residents money in the long run.

On average, it costs $435 a year to heat water in a Victorian home of four with an instantaneous gas system. In comparison, a heat pump system would cost the same household $205 on a peak tariff.

Application Process.

When ready to upgrade, applicants simply complete a series of questions about their existing hot water service and speak to an Energy Efficient Specialist to finalise a proposal. Once signed and paid, an installer will be in touch to book in an upgrade date once an appointment is available in the area.
